About
BizLife
BizLife was born out of the vision of Jim and Betty Massey late
in 2000. Jim was completing twenty years of ministry as
the pastor of Living Springs Baptist Church in Rockbank (Deer Park),
Victoria. He had led the church from their earliest days, and had
seen God build the congregation, getting them into their own building
on a thirty acre property adjacent to the new, rapidly growing
suburb of Caroline Springs. The church was free of debt, and Jim
sensed that it was time for the church to call a new pastor.
As to his own future, the direction wasn't quite so clear. Jim
had been the office manager of Melbourne Gospel Radio for a number
of years, and had been involved as a presenter of the program "Sunshine
Lane". During this time he had also become acquainted with a number
of people in the business community, and Jim felt drawn to some
sort of involvement with them. His previous engineering background
coupled with his ministry experience in working with people made
an ideal combination for one to interact with and help the business
community.
Jim's wife, Betty, had already been working as a counsellor for
a number of years, so the concept of providing solutions for
life and business in their work as a couple was quite natural.
Betty focused on helping individuals and couples work through their
struggles in life, and Jim focused on helping people in business
situations.
Initally Jim began providing services to a couple of small businesses,
writing business plans and helping them work through organisational
issues. Along the way he was doing some additional work for a client
in the finance industry. His initial minor involvement took hold,
and soon he found himself working for them full time in a variety
of roles involving everything from computers, to communication
and para planning (part of the financial planning process). In
mid
2001 they sent Jim to the Securities Institute of Australia to
undertake a Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning. While he was
still involved in his studies they authorised him as a financial
planner. In mid-2003 Jim completed his degree.
Jim continues to work as a financial planner, and he continues
pastoral ministry as an associate pastor at Westlakes Baptist Church
near Newcastle NSW. While BizLife has
been on the "back
burner" Jim
feels that it is now time to reach out and minister to others in
this
way. He
has a burden to get out the message that if you do things God's
way, you will benefit in every way!
Jim is available to consult with and speak to businesses, churches
and other groups to show them how they can benefit from applying
God's principles to their lives and businesses. As time goes on
he will be developing a great variety of tools that can be used
to multiply his efforts. He would welcome hearing from you.
